Supporting our Troops
MSpace feels strongly about supporting our troops overseas who are fighting for our freedom. As a company, MSpace has made a commitment to doing what they can to help and support our soldiers. MSpace has contributed to Tee it up for the Troops (TIUFTT) the past five years. For the holidays, we have utilized our partnership with TIUFTT chairman James Ball in order to coordinate adopting a Minnesota troop that is stationed in Bagdad!
MSpace was able to raise $1075 to buy care packages for the 10 soldiers. MSpace Marketing and Training coordinator, Rebecca Trainor, had a Vidyo videoconferencing call with LTC Tomas Miller in Bagdad. During this call he mentioned that they have recently received care packages with practical supplies. He felt his soldiers would like items that reminded them of home and boosted their spirits. Some of the items MSpace bought for the troop were DVDs, Viking T-shirts, MN sports franchise hats, MN flasks, and sports equipment that they will be able to use on base.
MSpace is also providing a virtual meeting room on our Vidyo videoconferencing portal for the 60 soldiers that are stationed at this location in Bagdad to talk to their families. Clear One donated a Chat 50 echo cancelation microphone and MSpace purchased a Logitech webcam in order for the troops to talk to their families back home. This technology will be available to anyone who needs it.

In 2009, the IRS is allowing companies to deduct up to $250,000 in qualified equipment. Don't miss out on these huge tax savings.

Tee it up for the Troops and CHOMP!
For the 5th consecutive year, MSpace along with InFocus sponsored Tee it up for the Troops, a NATIONAL DAY OF GOLF saluting the fallen and disabled members of our armed forces and their families. Over the past 4 years, Tee it up for the Troops has collected $1.2 mil to assist soldiers and their families that have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
On September 11th, 2009, MSpace supplyed technology to perform a video call from the families at Mendakota Country Club to the active solders in Iraq. InFocus provided the projectors in order to display these calls to the families along with others who would like to thank our troops.
MSpace also donated equipment for video calls to Child Heroes of Military Personnel (CHOMP) on August 2nd 2009. This is an event put on by Tee it up for the Troops and Mall of America providing a free day of fun for children of our solders. These children enjoyed video calls to their family in Iraq, ride wristbands for the park at MOA, mini golf, movie passes and popcorn, and rock climbing, all for free!
With veterans Ryan Heining and Joe Dowdell Sr. being the founders of MSpace and FRG, supporting our troops is an important and ongoing effort in our business. We are proud to have the opportunity to contribute to charities such as Tee it up for the Troops and CHOMP!

MSpace is happy to announce that Vidyo is the newest addition to our product mix!
Vidyo is the first videoconferencing solution that has been designed, from the ground up, as an IP application. Mini Masters 2009
MSpace’s Chicago team participated in the 6th annual Mini Masters event on February 12th. Mini Masters is a charitable event attended by individuals from various businesses in the commercial construction, design, and integration industries. All proceeds of this event went towards the Illinois Interior Design Coalition (IIDC). The IIDC is a not-for-profit political action committee whose mission is to protect the integrity of the Interior Design Title Act.
Located at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, the event consisted of an 18 hole mini golf course distributed between three floors. Participating companies each sponsored a hole and featured a fun design and theme. MSpace teamed up with Humanscale, Pepper Construction, and Interior Architects to create a retro themed golf hole consisting of the sights and sounds of a 70’s bowling alley.
MSpace showcased our expertise by integrating a digital signage commercial and marketing piece for the companies involved in the hole’s construction. Additionally, two 40” Sony LCD’s displayed images from two HD cameras. This technology allowed golfers to observe the progress and accuracy of their putting skills as the bowling/golf balls made their way through different tunnels designed into the bowling lane/golf hole. A projector and screen were also integrated along with disco balls and black lights to give a real retro feel of the hole. After a night of fun and games, the event ended as a huge success for the Chicago MSpace team!

MSpace Celebrates AV Week!
The Audiovisual industry is one of the fastest growing industries in our economy today and is projected to continue to grow at 11% based on a study done by North American MDSS. The week of October 19th to the 25th was the 3rd annual AV week involving companies around the US celebrating the successes of the AV industry and educating their communities. MSpace has lead the way in the promotion and education of the AV industry in Minnesota.
MSpace was responsible for securing a proclamation from the governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenty, officially recognizing AV week in the state just last year. This year, MSpace wanted to organize something to help educate our community on the effects of the AV industry on the way people are doing business today. In order to achieve this, MSpace decided to do an audiovisual presentation to the Entrepreneurship Scholars Program (E-Scholars) at St. John’s University.
E-scholars is a program where about 12 students each year are selected to participate. The program involves 3 courses and traveling on business trips in Silicon Valley, Minneapolis, and Hong Kong. At the end of their program, they are expected to launch a new venture before completing the program. MSpace could not think of a better group of people to educate on the international effect of the AV industry in the world today.
President Ryan Heining, a St John’s University Alumni, addressed the group on October 22nd via the Video Conferencing system at the University. Students were able to learn about the industry and the profitable benefits of AV applications while seeing the effects firsthand. After hearing about the money saving possibilities with travel costs, increasing communication and cutting down on your carbon footprint, the growth of the industry was no surprise. The students were very responsive to the topic asking question about the path to success within the AV industry and connecting AV products with the feasibility analysis of a company.

Tee it up for the Troops!
MSpace, once again, teamed up with its sister company I:Space to sponsor the 4th annual Tee it up for the Troops National Day of Golf on September 5th.
Tee it up for the Troops is a nonprofit organization established by family and friends of a solder in the US Army. It was organized to assist, acknowledge and honor the fallen, wounded, and disabled soldiers who have sacrificed so much for our country.
On this day, golf courses around the U.S. invite these brave individuals to enjoy a round of golf. They are still calculating the proceeds, however, this one day of golf should have raised about half a million dollars in scholarships and assistance to those who have sacrificed for our freedom. MSpace will be sponsoring along with donating the use of our digital signage for the event.
If you are interested in donating or participating in this event please go to http://www.teeitupforthetroops.com/ for more information.
Atwater Block Nurse Golf Outing
The Annual Atwater Block Nurse golf outing is an event that was put together to raise money to help assist seniors in being self sufficient in the comfort and familiarity of their homes versus going to a nursing home.
MSpace’s President, Ryan Heining, has a personal connection to this event. When his grandmother, Stella Heining, was at the point of needing some in-home care, the Block Nurse Program helped her stay in her own home for approximately 5 years longer then she otherwise would have. This allowed Ryan’s father, Marlen, to see his mother every morning for those 5 years when he brought her the mail. When Ryan’s dad and seven other Atwater businessmen purchased the golf course in 19.., it was a natural fit to create an event to support the Block Nurse program.
This is a program that Ryan and MSpace have participated in for many years. After the passing of Ryan’s father, he and his brothers decided they would support this cause in honor of him for as long as it lasts. This year, MSpace sponsored the event and had 8 representatives from the company participating in the tournament. The event had wonderful weather, a large turnout, and the Atwater golf club raised $4250 to support the Block Burse program.
